Proofreading

According to Halacha, all Tefillin and Mezuzahs must be thoroughly examined every few years. Perspiration can damage Tefillin, water drops can penetrate Mezuzahs, and both can be harmed in other ways. The letters in both can become erased if the Parshiyot are stuffed into their encasements. In any case, Hallakha demands that the STA"M writing be carefully checked to ensure that they are Kosher.

Tiferet STA"M Institute has a special examination team made up of pious, authorized scribes who are entrusted with this sacred task. If a question arises, they bring it before the rabbis to obtain their learned opinion on the matter. All Tefillin and Mezuzahs undergo two examinations: meticulous proofreading and a computer check.
